Mireia Lalaguna Royo gets the crown placed on her head after winning the title at Miss World‘s grand final on Saturday (December 19) in southern China’s Hainan province.
The 23-year-old student from Barcelona beat out over 100 other contestants in the competition to become the first woman from Spain to win in over 65 years.
Sofia Nikitchuk from Russia came in second place while Maria Harfanti from Indonesia came in third place.
There was controversy over this year’s show as Miss Canada Anastasia Lin was not allowed to enter China, which she believes is because she has been critical of Chinese human rights abuses in the past, according to Huffington Post.
