Avatar held the record for six years with $760.6 million earned, and has fallen to the number two spot. Star Wars: The Force Awakens now has earned an estimated $761 million domestically and $1.56 billion globally. These numbers are expected to keep rising, as the film has only been in theaters for 20 days!

Deadline notes that this is extra impressive because Star Wars is not the widest release of all time! At only 4,134 theaters, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse holds that record with 4,468 theaters.
