Lady Gaga Reacts to Her Oscar Nomination - Read Her Statement

First-time Oscar nominee Lady Gaga has released a statement on her Instagram account reacting to the news.

The 29-year-old entertainer was nominated in the Best Song category for “Til It Happens To You” from The Hunting Ground, which she wrote with Diane Warren.

“This nomination lends a voice to so many victims and their families around the world. Thank you to The Academy for recognizing the movement of people who have come together around ‘The Hunting Ground’ and ‘Til It Happens To You’ in the name of sexual assault. Diane Warren and I are simply honored to represent the voices of so many survivors,” Gaga wrote. The Hunting Ground is a documentary exposé of rape crimes on U.S. college campuses and the cover ups that follow.
