Bette Midler Returning to Broadway in 'Hello, Dolly!' Revival!

Bette Midler has just set her Broadway return in the revival of the hit musical Hello, Dolly!

The 70-year-old actress and singer confirmed the news on her Twitter account after rumors began circulating.

“Yes, I am taking on the role of the beloved Dolly Levi in “Hello, Dolly!”. We open next year on Broadway! So excited!” Bette tweeted to her fans.

The show will begin previews on March 13, 2017 and open on April 20, 2017. It will be directed by Jerry Zaks.

“There has not been a new production in 50 years,” producer Scott Rudin told The Associated Press. “Partly it was the difficulty of who could play Dolly. It had to be someone who could take it to a different level. Bette is the only one who can. Never has there been something more inevitable than her in this role.”

Bette first made her Broadway debut back in the 60s in the original production of Fiddler on the Roof.
