Charlotte Rampling Clarifies Comments About Oscars Racism

Charlotte Rampling, one of this year’s nominees for Best Actress at the Oscars, is clarifying her comments on the Oscars boycott.

The 69-year-old 45 Years actress formally said that she believed that the call to boycott the Oscars was “racist to whites” but she is now saying that her comments were misinterpreted.

“I regret that my comments could have been misinterpreted this week in my interview with Europe 1 Radio,” Charlotte told CBS Sunday Morning in an interview.

She continued, “I simply meant to say that in an ideal world every performance will be given equal opportunities for consideration. I am very honored to be included in this year’s wonderful group of nominated actors and actresses.”

Can celebrities stop saying they were misquoted or misinterpreted because they get called out… If you’re going to say something, say it. Don’t act ballsy during the interview and then play victim when it’s publicized.
