'Grease: Live' Ratings Top 'The Wiz' with 12.2 Million Viewers

Grease: Live brought in great numbers for Fox on Sunday night and it was the most successful live musical since NBC’s The Sound of Music Live in 2013.

The broadcast was viewed by 12.2 million viewers, a number that was bigger than December’s The Wiz Live, which brought in 11 million viewers, according to THR.

While The Sound of Music was viewed by 18.3 million people, a bigger percentage of Grease‘s audience was among the coveted young demo as it scored a 4.3 rating among adults 18-49 compared to the former’s 4.6 rating.

I loved the entire show but Joe Jonas was my favorite part. I love him and his band

The Wiz had 11.5 mil, not 11. They beat them by less than a million, were a month and a half apart, and on different nights of the week. I’m not sure it was necessarily a competition, more like Fox trying to get in on the success NBC’s had with live musicals.
