You know what’s also interesting to me: I can only comment on certain stories on here. I think it’s because I’m using an old browser. But it poses a question as to what part of the software made it possible for me to comment on this particular story but not see any of the pictures that accompany it. It’s like the Pepsi challenge in reverse. It makes me wonder if there is some type of sentient intelligence behind the results of all the decision making.that went into the software updates. It seems that I can comment about stories concerning Taylor Swift but 90% of the other stories are off limit to my opinions. If I click on the comments it won’t even show me what other people’s comments are, let alone give me a window of opportunity to say something myself. I also have 49,902 views on my G+ account that I don’t believe are actual people. Perhaps the robots behind my illusion of popularity want to know what I think about Taylor Swift and limiting me to just this topic is like child proofing a child because I don’t really have much to say about anything else anyway.

Just checkin in here. But yeah of the first 7 Just Jared stories the only ones I can comment on are this one and the one about Zayn Malik, which I declined to do because I couldn’t make it all the way through ‘Pillowtalk’. How are these decisions being made? If I’m correct another one of the stories had multiple comments on it (that I couldn’t see) so its not that I can only comment where comments have already been left. It feels like somebody really wants me to say something about Zayn Malik because I’ve been so starved for a voice anywhere else that I feel a compulsion to share. It would be easy to say that the computer is making these decisions and I suspect that this is correct. The computer is randomly selecting certain stories for me to talk about by denying me the right to speak anywhere else. Like I said, the intelligence feels sentient, but only because, without fail, I can comment on all the stories about Taylor Swift. Here. I’ll go and try to comment on a Taylor Swift story and report back about whether I can or Can’t. If I can’t it would disprove my own theory.

  • Mark Jekabson

OK so I searched ‘Taylor Swift’ on here and the only story I could comment on is the one about Ruby Rose defending her. Why? Either the computer has a mind of it’s own or in troubleshooting my own theories I’ve found that the computer is becoming more restrictive and is trying to get some very specific information out of me: What do I think of Ruby Rose coming in to defend Ms. Swift against Kanye West. The answer is that I think Ruby Rose should get herself a sense of Humor. And the saying “Fuck em if they can’t take a joke” goes double for Taylor.

OK Just an update: Now I can comment on nearly any story on here EXCEPT stories concerning Taylor Swift or Kanye west. I can’t comment on the release of Mr. West’s album or on Jaime Kings saddened defense of her friend but I can comment on Charlie XCX and see the comment left there that says they both look like they are on drugs. I can’t add to the 57 comments about the Beyonce’ related skit on SNL, which I saw, and whose comments section is probably filled with the idiotic ramblings of some racist idiot who would probably want to deny that the Civil Rights Movement ever took place, let alone that there was a need for it. In short, I can’t comment, for the most part, on the politics of music and race even though I am informed enough on the topic to contribute to an intelligent discussion. And it is all because I have an old web browser that selectively proscribes certain information. If I were to comment on Jaime Kings report of sorrow in the face of the Kanye-inflicted slights to her friends stellar character I would say “buck up” in the manner of “here’s looking at you kid” and tell her to advise her friend to maybe consider doing some type of blockbuster peace-treaty-collaboration with Mr. West that would entertain the fans who like to keep things topical as well as show off her songwriting skills in terms of how quickly she can come up with something exciting, pertinent and emotional to accommodate the people who simply want something new and exciting to go with their innuendo. Hey: he’s got a new album that just came out, she’s up for album of the year, let’s let bygones be bygones and really give the people something they can feel. I mean, Billie Holliday probably wrote, recorded and distributed a song a day for some of the 35 plus years she was making music. Taylor doesn’t need to rest on the laurels of her 1989 album so much that songwriting becomes a business cycle as the model for success. I would love to see what she could come up with in terms of the genius of both visuals and message that both she and Kanye share as artists. But, no. She’s probably going to perform ‘out of the woods’ and continue to milk the emotional fallout of having once dated a 19 year old rock star. That said, the newfound situation I find myself in is of having too many places to comment about stuff I care very little about. What’s the saying about opinions? well I’ve generally only got one on any given topic and for the record I think Kanye and his new album have offered a heightened perspective on art and music that I deserve, at least tangentially, to be a part of. I’ll complain about the logistics of a robot controlled and mediated society later because right now I want to go to youtube and see if I can hear some of ‘The Life Of Pablo’ in my headphones. Peace.
