'Deadpool' Smashes Box Office Records With $135 Million Gross Over Valentine's Day Weekend
Ryan Reynold‘s R-rated superhero flick Deadpool brought in a whopping $135 million to top this Valentine’s Day weekend box office!
According to THR, the marvel movie will likely bring in $150 million total for the four-day holiday weekend, beating out the $93 million grossed last year by Fifty Shades of Grey.
Deadpool officially boasts the biggest R-rated opening of all time, the largest February opening ever, and the top opening in history for Fox.
Coming in at No. 2 was the animated movie Kung Fu Panda 3, which earned an additional $19.7 million for the three-day weekend, bringing its total to over $100 million.
Taking the third spot was Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson‘s new rom-com How to be Single, which debuted to $18.8 million and an estimated four-day gross of $21 million.
Rounding out the top five were Zoolander 2 and The Revenant, which grossed $15.7 million and $6.9 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, George Clooney‘s new period piece, Hail, Caesar!, brought in an additional $6.6 million.
