The sound wasn’t the only problem. Her singing and the guitar were off key and all over the place…

she kept it together with all those annoyances.. I would have stopped the whole thing and sang acapella.

Taylor Swift paid the sound guy, I’m sure lol.

There was no guitar. That extra sound was supposedly the piano mike falling into the piano. You can hear them turning it on and off during the performance like they couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. But, I don’t buy that story. I think someone was playing with a guitar off stage and that the sound people where not even paying attention during the performance. I suspect the sound people where playing on their smart phones during the performance instead of doing their jobs. Even the most amateur sound person could have fixed that problem in about 5 seconds. No excuse for the sound people.

It was more than the sound. She was pitchy and off-key in some instances-something was off. I’m not sure how people could not hear it.

She could have at least acknowledged the timeless contributions of her beloved Olaf, without whom she likely would never have made it to this award presentation. Still, horrific technical mishaps aside, too bad they couldn’t have bungled the sound even more than they did for that terribly unintelligible Lady Gaga gibberish.

  • Baseliner

maybe the weight loss is making her sing off pitch now. same thing happened to maria callas

  • Jon Russell

She STILL GOT a STANDING ‘O’ you can see she is hurt though. She held back tears, you can see it… HOWEVER, I’VE NOTICED trends, Mariah ( actual singer ) sound problems, Christina mic problems, now Adele, all people with talent… She sounded great despite allllllll that nonsense and the clanging, its noticeable live because it sounds like a guitar…

I gotta say, BRAVO lady…. she still got a Standing O, yet NO ONE is mentoining that… WAIT TILL 2017… JUST WAIT LOL…

  • Mayne Vaughn

I feel so bad for her as she’s performing, she’s obviously upset by what happened and that makes it impossible to sing. If you have ever sung on a stage, you know what I’m talking about. It makes the vocal cords tighten up and the pitch is off. There she was, singing in front of her peers, and she has a terrible time with stage fright anyway, and is just coming back after taking off three years from performing. Her agent should be shot for having put her through this, first of all, because it really was too soon. And then add all the technical mess, it is really unfortunate.

  • Brad Byers

You have no idea what you are talking about. It is definitely a mic falling on piano strings sound from the upper register on the piano. You know nothing about music or sound, so shut up.

  • ll

She’s had vocal issues and sometimes surgery helps, sometimes hurts. Plus, she has said she spent many years smoking. I’ve put many ppl to sleep for ENT and lung surgeries and smoking extremely effects the vocal cords. I noticed on the BBC live with Adele that she had difficulty with her upper register. So sad if she is having chronic problems. What a talent.

There was no guitar, moron. That is a microphone muffling the piano strings where it fell on them. Sounded like someone playing along with a snare drum. No big deal anyway, and did not distract the performance whatsoever…

I think she was having vocal problems in general. In general, when one has chronic vocal issues, he or she can tell you, sometimes the voice feels fine and other days it’s more of a struggle. A lot of care has to take place.

  • devvv

Moron because I made the same mistake 90% of the people watching did or because I’m not kissing her butt like the majority…? The sound was messed up, the piano mic sound was distracting and she was off key, period.
It may not have been a distraction for you, but judging by the fact that she had to tweet out a statement, it clearly distracted a lot of people.

Poor woman was hurting. She had a bad night and was struggling, that’s all. This happens to the best of them. Professionals will rise to the occasion and get through, as she did, just not world class as most would expect. Let’s stop making all of the excuses though. It was what it was.
I’m sure she’ll rise to the occasion during her next performances. She’s too gifted not to.
