Gerard Butler & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Premiere 'Gods of Egypt'

Gerard Butler suits up in style for the premiere of his new movie Gods Of Egypt held at AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 on Wednesday night (February 24) in New York City.

The 46-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Abbey Lee, Courtney Eaton, and Elodie Yung.

Gods of Egypt follows mortal hero Bek as he teams with the god Horus in an alliance against Set, the merciless god of darkness who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.

FYI: Abbey is wearing a Helmut Lang suit and Fernando Jorge earrings. Gerard is wearing Ermenegildo Zegna Couture. Courtney is carrying an Edie Parker clutch.

Movie review: ‘Gods of Egypt’ is an unholy, unnecessarily whitewashed mess
    http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/movies/gods-egypt-unholy-whitewashed-mess-article-1.2543377
“One star for a horrifically bad movie with Gerard Butler and a mincing Geoffrey Rush”

  • TeaCakes

Actually, I’m not enjoying it at all. I was all for this film back in the days before the first trailer came out. Just like everyone else, the concept “sounded” good and I envisioned it could be something like HBO’s ‘Rome’. Instead, it’s 99% CGI and bad acting. And I agree, LHF reviews will be more favorable.

  • TeaCakes

I don’t see any pics of him smiling.

  • TeaCakes

Yes, Hollywood is a high tension place lately. I didn’t think of that angle, only of the GOE controversy.

  • TeaCakes

Unfortunate is the word. The negative reviews of this film won’t help his reputation, either. I don’t think anyone takes him seriously in Hollywood.

  • TeaCakes

Thanks! I just learned a new German word. Glanzzeiten. Butler’s was a long time ago LOL

I meant the JJ pics for this thread. A few of them look like he’s actually angry and depressed.

Yes, those pics look more like he was actually having fun for a few seconds.

  • Sonia

I have had no problems pointing out in the past when he looked bad. Last night, however, wasn’t one of those times, in my opinion. He looked very good.

  • Sonia

It looked like he was grabbed for a quick interview after doing the red carpet thing, which happens all the time, of course. Could just have been a little frazzled or just rushing to go into the cinema for the screening. But I thought the interview was fine and he looked good, no problems at all to me. :)

    He looks so good!

  • TeaCakes

So why does JJ only post the worst of his pics? I wasn’t talking about his suit and tie, but the fact that in JJ’s pics he is not smiling and looks sad.

  • Sonia

Who knows. Maybe they were the first few photos that were released and they just bought them immediately. Or maybe they were cheaper, lol.

Gods of Egypt review: What complete and utter insanity is this?
    http://www.hindustantimes.com/movie-reviews/gods-of-egypt-review-what-complete-and-utter-insanity-is-this/story-YHTREz1Igpqf1F9gpkcYNI.html
“There’s a scene in Gods of Egypt where Gerard Butler, still hungover from 300, bellows at the camera, “You think I’d put any effort into trying to amuse you?” And it makes you wonder, considering the levels of insanity that this movie has been assaulting you with (for 2 hours!), if Gerard Butler was in on the joke the whole time. Because not only is Alex Proyas’ new film borderline unwatchable, it’s irredeemably so.”

Oh he’s going to play Slapjack with Fallon…so fun, can’t wait to watch it! His hands are massive enough without those props, lol.

  • logik69

I did try to warn people, the reviews are mixed but the negative reviews are really negative. When that much money is spent, people have high expectations. Silly gooses.

  • Sonia

I’ve yet to see one positive review, to be honest. As in by a movie reviewer/website. Of it I have, I can’t remember it cos there have been too many negative ones.
I had high hopes for it too but the trailers haven’t impressed me. I’ll watch it though, just cos I’ve been starved of seeing Butler on the big screen for too long. :)

  • logik69

Who are you talking to. Why are bothering to comment on what is clearly a spoof account. Why don’t you notify Butler’s people if Gerry is not a Trump supporter. Well maybe you better find that out first.

  • logik69

Most of those people did not pay anything to get into that premiere. Some people might even be paid to be there.

Did you notice no one “won” that ticket auction esp since they moved the premiere.

  • logik69

Have to admit expected more from NCW he usually does look well put together. He is probably like many in the cast let’s get this over with so we can all move on.

Brown shoes for men are in though with black or blue, even for formal occasion, it is a European thing and I am seeing it infiltrate North America.

Guys stick to the black shoes!

Comments hit the mark about Alan. Loyalty should never turn you into a slave, and I’m referring to Butler.

    What’s he drinking, Red Bull?

    Naaaaaaah….don`t “abuse” my german lessons….:)

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

It’s a serviceable type of film. Much like others similar to it, it’ll find its audience. Many like such films. Pure escapism.

  • 💕👰💫german-girl💃fresh-blood💫👰💕

…that`s why V.Sylvstedt & M.Schenkenberg appeared…..This premiere is an upgrade for them both but not an upgrade for the movie/GB:)

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

I agree Butler looked better than most. A subdued mature manly graceful successful elegance his aura throughput.

“Brown shoes are in though with black or blue”

    > you point it out correctly > it`s “or” and not “and” < even not in europe:)

I’d say the world is a high tension place now and Hollywood is a reflection of that. Doomsday movies are too popular, and frankly, unhealthy in my humble opinion.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

Maybe his is? Maybe the human has no one to share anything with? Good, bad? And don’t forget he’s recovering from a break-up. Who knows what all she’s up to regarding it either?

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

How was the weather last night for you? I had a hard commute home. Too many interviews that day? Were you on TV that morning? How have reviews for your film been you now have to show up for, promote? Did you just break up with someone?

  • AJ

TC, do you know how choosing films actually work? I know they get a script but how much does the actor/actress really know about the movie when they accept a role? When an actor/actress accepts a project, how much knowledge do they have of the movie?

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

How else does one make fantasy films?
As for bad acting, I’ll trust my own eyes rather than a bunch of jealous malcontent failed actors turned journalists, and/or critics, etc.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

Sounds like hard work, but fun. If I were him I’d move away from green screen stuff and return to, wait for it, acting.

  • AJ

You know I was only teasing right? You have remarked on some of the same things that are now being said about GB/this movie. I thought you would be like told you so. LOL! Interesting, I didn’t actually realize that. Yes, imagine that. That would have been a much better approach! I really hope so. Well, it has to be better than what’s happening right now. LOL!

And appears to be way older than him.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

He looked exhausted but well groomed. Due to his long day he most likely had to work harder to be ‘on’ and ‘up’ and all that he’s marketed himself to be. That’s the sad part.

  • AJ

OMG! Applauding you Sonia! Thank you so much! I just love watching this man! This reminds me why I’ve missed him so much! He looks great! I love the hair! On another note, watching bits of the movie in this video, it looks kind of good. I think I better save my judgment until I see it for myself. It’s easy to get influenced sometimes.

I said the same thing yesterday about handing over $140 million dollars with industry strings attached . Alex didn’t look too happy. They did pay for marketing it and the Super Bowl ad couldn’t have been cheap.

Oh give me a break. What a bunch of crap.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

I feel he needs to take a long hard look at things.

  • logik69

We look forward to your totally objective review.

I know that sometimes I agree with the critics and sometimes I disagree with the critics or I don’t care if everyone else does not like it but the reality is an actor can’t have too many back to back bombs because ultimately this is a business – you can’t have the art unless someone is paying for it.

I tend to trust the critics whose opinion I seem to share most of the time. I have not read any reviews from those critics yet.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

Wasn’t he up early for a TV show taping yesterday? Saying same stuff over and over? Wasn’t he wrapped up with people buzzing about him all day? A premiere that’s getting some harsh criticism? Terribly stressful.

  • http://rememberingthedesireisprivate.blogspot.com/ GFW™

I’ll be as unbiased as possible as a Butler liker. I tend to find something in all films I see I enjoy. I go to be entertained, watch a story develop (saw 45 Years this past weekend), and possibly learn something or not. This might be in the ‘or not’ category but these kinds of films are as necessary as any other.

  • TeaCakes

I know that according to quotes I’ve read from actors: all movies are a crapshoot. So yes, I understand that there are LOTS of actors (all of them I’m sure) with crappy films but why are all his films crappy? He’s only had one or two that I personally deem watchable. The others I’ve seen are laughable at best and certainly not worth re-watching. Why is it that so many other actors have way more hits that he does? I’m talking about “movies that are considered hits by critics AND fans alike”.
