Gal Gadot Reveals Wonder Woman's Greatest Strength

Gal Gadot rocks a pair of ripped jeans on the cover of Glamour magazine’s April 2016 issue.

Here’s what the 30-year-old Batman v Superman star had to share:

On rebelling during Miss Universe: “If things had gone according to my plans, I’d be a lawyer. I never dreamt of being an actress. My mother was a teacher; my dad is an engineer. But at 18 I was approached to compete in Miss Israel. I thought, That would be a nice experience. I never thought I would win! I was shocked when they crowned me; when I went to Miss Universe, I rebelled. I was afraid I might get picked again. [Laughs.] I showed up late. I came without gowns. They tell you to come to breakfast in a gown. I was like, ‘No way am I having breakfast in a gown!’ Who needs to wear an evening gown at 10:30 A.M.?”

On what is important while playing Wonder Woman: “For BvS it was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she’s not there because of a love story. She’s not there to serve someone else…. She has so many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she’s a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence. She’s loving…. And it’s all her heart—that’s her strength. I think women are amazing for being able to show what they feel. I admire women who do. I think it’s a mistake when women cover their emotions to look tough. I say let’s own who we are and use it as a strength.”

On Internet comments about Batman v Superman: “There were a lot of comments about the size of my breasts…. I realized we can’t please everyone. In one interview I did say, ‘If you want it to really be true to the origin story, the [myth goes that] Amazons had only one breast; otherwise it would get in the way of the bow and arrow.’ So!”

Now ask her about what she said about Palestinians and Palestine in the atrocities against Gaza that even former soldiers are now voicing out against; while she was filming this. And how she blamed the slaughter of 2550 people in 51 days 558 of them were CHILDREN younger than her own child; and the orphaning of more than 10.000 children as THEIR FAULT.

Wonder Woman is so much more than her appearance. It’s insulting people were upset because of her breasts. How about her physique? She doesn’t have an ounce of muscle on her. Why people keep sexualizing our female representations is beyond me.

BREASTS?! People were upset because she wasn’t bulky and fit like an MMA fighter. She’s lying when she says there were a lot of comments about her breasts, mostly people were upset about the fact that she was too skinny and that she didn’t have WW’s square face structure nor piercing blue eyes. I’ve been following this entire thing BEFORE she was cast and all throughout when it was announced she was cast, and I never seen 1 comment about her breast size. It was mostly that she was skinny and looked nothing like WW. People were mad that they hired a model instead of a strong bulky woman who could represent WW properly. Don’t be fooled, her PR team has coached her well.

I have to say I’m shocked … shocked by the fact that a magazine aimed at women didn’t put a naked woman on the cover, gaping mouth open and arms strategically placed to cover her breasts. Because nothing says I’m a women’s magazine, buy me! like a naked chick on the cover. I think women that cover Playboy wear more clothes than women that appear on Cosmo, Glamour and all the others I can’t name

That was terrible when she said that and I hope she’s developed a conscious since then.
It seems her career is being funded predominatly to improve Israel’s image, praise the zionist regime and the IDF else she would not be given an easy ride into the role; subsequently mentioning all the above at any given opportunity.
400 accomplished actresses auditioned for Catwoman in The Dark Knight and three mediocre actresses screen tested for Wonder Woman – go figure.
Her PR team tried to spin the real concern of her acting skills onto her breasts which doesn’t seem to be an issue because they padded her costume up as though she is a size DD.
The sheer amount of voice dubbing, dark filters, slow motion and short-timed sentences filmed, any average actress can ‘act’ in a super hero movie.
They put her in a few minor roles next to big names in 2016 to hopefully justify her carrying a solo movie so the public won’t question whether or not she has any gravitas.
I don’t mind who plays the role as long as they can act but I DO mind when an actor/tress has been plunged in the deep end in order to endorse a political agenda – the public are not as stupid as you wish they were.

Indeed. She has had two long years to verse herself and be exposed to the very people she dehumanized. She has no excuse. She wants to talk about being a rebel, she is nothing of the sort.

  • Melua

She was a rebel yet she still attended the pageant…hmm. I have a friend who fought front line in the IDF and although we have very different view on politics, he has confided in me the atrocities they get up to and how he suffers PTSD from guilt. When he is around his friends, he changes his tune to macho and rebel due to peer pressure. What annoys me most is that she was skipping in a gym during her service and feels as though she has the right to praise the IDF. If she witnessed what happened front line, then I believe she would keep quiet.

  • DEADP00L

She thinks its a game, she never saw reality much less even shares in what Mizrahim have to endure as second class citizens, or their own disenfranchisement much less Palestinians; thanks to her brand of racism. She uses the IDF but fails to mention she was drafted by law to enlist; not joined it by her own accord. If she were a real rebel she’d be like other Israelis who are objecting to conscription and serving time over and over again, refusing to abort their humanity and serve the machine.

THAT is REAL bravery, that is a side everyone should know about.

She didn’t do any of that and her words of 2014 are now eternal. Yet here she is, pretending like it never happened. She has no shame.

When every single IDF member with a shred of integrity knows full well just what is being done.

No one is going to fall for it and no one will be allowed to ignore it.

  • Melua

I could not have put it better myself – agreed on all accounts.
