Henry Cavill on Making Movies: 'The Money's Fantastic'

Henry Cavill gets his close up on Man of the World’s Spring 2016 Issue.

Here’s what the 32-year-old Batman v Superman actor had to share with the mag:

On doing movies for the money as well as the art: “I’m slightly wary of saying this, because it can be frowned upon, certainly by members of my community and people outside my community…but I’m not just doing this for the art. The money’s fantastic and that’s something which I deem—and again, it is frowned upon—very important.”

On living life: “You’ve got to enjoy life! I mean, you’ve got to! When I’m making money I’m spending it on nice stuff, whether that be lavish holidays for me and my friends or just seeing something and going in a shop and saying, ‘Yeah, I want that for the house,’ and buying it. Spending money on my friends, buying dinner for everyone, drinks for everyone, it’s a nice place to be, and I like people to feel cared for. People will be calling me a cock as they’re reading this, but travel’s great as long as you’re going first class. I mean, traveling to New Zealand in economy, it sucks. Especially if you’re over six feet. But first class? I’m not going to ever pretend to be coy about that. I love it.”

On the response to The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: “It didn’t do badly, but it should have done better, because everyone I’ve spoken to loved it. Maybe it should have been marketed slightly differently so people went in feeling that it was something else. I snuck into the Odeon to see it on High Street Kensington, and all the trailers beforehand were for these explosive action movies. They were being set up and prepped for a sort of Mission Impossible-type film, and it’s not—it’s a tongue-in-cheek spy thriller with some genuine comedy to it.”

All movie stars take projects for the money, Henry just isn’t afraid to say it.

  • Rana

    finallllyyyy honesty

  • Annabelle

This guy should spend his money on acting lessons. JK Rowling never bragged about her money and yet I bet you she makes more than Henry Cavill. He needs a lesson in humility. I hope his movies bomb and he runs out of that money. Btw, I wonder how his emotional support dog enjoys first class flights to NZ??

The perfect job doesnt exist. Stop creating illusions!

  • Annabelle

If you mean finally coming out as the douchebag that he is. Yes, finally!

    Stop talking, Henry. Just stop.

I so wanted to like this guy.

Chris Evans is a much better actor. His movies always perform well. Cavill on the other hand. Would be interesting to see how many people see Cavill’s movie now and give him their money. A good kick back to economy class on the plane would do this dude some good.

How does this guy represent the British Royal Marines? I’m sure those soldiers would enjoy the luxury of flying back home First Class and spending money left and right.

Man…I know he’s speaking the truth but he does sound like a douche doesn’t he? :-/ I’m actually a fan of Henry, but to be honest with myself, I guess it’s mostly his looks, because whenever he opens his mouth, he’s either boring, or mildly irritating like he is here….(sigh) Where is the charm of Michael Fassbender, Chris Evans, Downey?…It’s not like they’re not making money, but they seem to lead a more humble life.

  • Rana

Most hollywood actors are douchebags and pretend to be humble . he just is being upfront

Landing in Wellington and admiring the artwork is a blast. There’s that many backpackers and on the Picton ferry, an attitude “while your young” holidays are great in economy, they don’t complain about it when they get to see the world. Inflight entertainment isn’t so much talking to your fellow travellers, but some flights don’t offer inflight entertainment, you have to improvise with reading.

Hats off for his honesty. If actors were in it for the art and not the money, Hollywood would be empty and Broadway would be full. Perhaps the ppl believe that Jennifer Lawrence or Chris Evans work for art’s love? No, they are simply not able to be honest because they retain an appearance that Hollywood likes, but JLaw is a superb and rude; Henry on the other hand, is the most accessible actor with their fans and all the actors he has worked always speak of his kindness. Honesty is frowned upon in Hollywood.

    and dating a basic 19-year old. #emotionallystunted

  • aussie_1988

Just because you think he’s being honest doesn’t still make it right to brag about. All he talks about is sex or money in interviews. 2 things that are apparently ripe in his mind. There are people struggling in the world and in the U.S. just to make ends meet. His truth comes out tacky and pointless, especially right before his stupid movie is released. Why should fans give him more money now? Never mind his “black” comments either. He needs to just STFU.

I don’t mind actors who have no filter; It can be endearing. Like when Chris Evans drunkenly licked a microphone and stuttered over his replies at an awards show. The issue is that in Henry’s case it’s not so much what he’s saying, but how he’s saying it. The sex commenst are low brow and the dating of the hot 19 y.o. big boobied blond is cliche. As he said in the GMA show, he’s fully aware of the fact that just because you know better, doesn’t mean you won’t do it anyway.
