Donald Trump Responds to Rally Cancellation: 'Thugs' Have 'Energized America'

Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to respond to his rally’s cancellation on Friday (March 11) in Chicago, Ill.

The 69-year-old Republican presidential frontrunner decided to cancel the event after violence broke out among supporters and protesters.

“The organized group of people, many of them thugs, who shut down our First Amendment rights in Chicago, have totally energized America!” Donald wrote.

In addition, Donald told CNN‘s Don Lemon, “I hope that my tone is not that of causing violence.”

Donald has commented on violence at his rallies in the past, stating, “They were swinging, they were hitting people and they were really doing damage and, frankly, the crowd turned on them or the police turned on them. In most cases it was the police.”
