'Maze Runner' Director Gives Update on Dylan O'Brien's Injuries

Wes Ball, the director of all three The Maze Runner movies, is giving an update on Dylan O’Brien following his on-set injuries that caused production on the third film to shut down temporarily.

“Well, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I’ve been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt,” the director wrote in a statement on Twitter.

“But ultimately I find myself left with just a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie. I’m sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew,” Wes continued. “It’s scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he will be back up and running to finish our adventure together. All the best.”

Several cast members from the movie have spoken out with messages of support for Dylan amid the injuries. It has been reported that he suffered multiple broken bones, though that is not confirmed.

It’s great to hear that he’s going to be okay. I was really worried that this was going to take a wrong turn. I hope Dylan recovers quickly.

I am sure a lawsuit will soon follow and some heads will roll as a result. Hollywood studios have to insure that stunts are safe and your lead actor is insured…

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird that everyone seems to be avoiding mentioning exactly how he was injured? I mean it’s not any of our business, but if the injuries are really “bad but he’ll heal up and be just fine” I find it strange that all of the people talking about it seem to be pointedly excluding even where on his body he was injured whenever they talk about it.

It was said before. He got run over by a car while doing a stunt. He probably has broken ribs or something but I don’t think its that serious. If his legs and arms were broken, it would take more then just a couple of weeks to recover. Either way, he should sue the director and the production team. They are supposed to keep him safe as an actor.
