Disney & Marvel Plan to Boycott Georgia If Anti-Gay Discrimination Bill Is Passed

Disney and Marvel will no longer film in Georgia “should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law.”

Gov. Nathan Deal has the option to sign a bill right now that would allow religious leaders to deny performing same-sex marriages. If the bill passed, faith-based organizations would also be able to deny services and employment opportunities to those who “violate” any religious views.

“Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law,” a statement from the companies read (via Variety).

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is currently filming outside of Atlanta, and Captain America: Civil War filmed in Georgia last year as well.

Well…guess I am going to have to boycott Disney and Marvel for their close-minded beliefs.

    Nobody cares.

Good on Disney and Marvel. Discrimination is gross.

  • Anna

Oh shut up. They’re fighting discrimination, nothing to do with beliefs.

  • beaner

what happened to separation of church and state?

  • Penny Dreadful

Why should people who make movies care about what religious clerics are doing? If Georgians are smart they’ll tell Disney and Marvel to shove it.

  • Curt Noydb

Especial discrimination perpetrated by left wing fascism. Go ask a Muslim Imam to perform your ceremony and see the result. Typical one way BS

  • Mike1288

I mean I agree I just do not know why gay people would want to be married by a church that never wanted to accept them?

  • Mike1288

I mean dont they go to that state cause of the tax relief as well? Its not only cause the studios are charitable to states lol.

Are you stupid or what? Shows how cultured and bigot you are. That’s not how a Muslim wedding works. They’re binded by family not by a priest or an Imam. They don’t get married in a mosque, not like Christians in a church. Muslim weddings are seen as a legal commitment rather than a religious one. They have a huge party with their family, give each other gold, the bride wears a wedding dress, and then they sign their documents after. Some Muslim cultures don’t even have a party, they just sign papers and that’s it. They’re married once both their parents agree. No vows, no walking down the mosque, no priest to bind them, just a huge giant wedding and then papers. However, to a Christian women and man it’s different. They should have the right to get married since their faith and a marriage ceremony is important to them and their religious views. It shouldn’t matter what their race, age, and sexuality is. This is pure discrimination and is against basic human rights. derpherp
