Sara Bareilles' 'Waitress' Musical Breaks a Broadway Record!
Sara Bareilles‘ new Broadway musical Waitress, for which she wrote the music and lyrics, started performances this past weekend in New York City and it has already broken a record!
The new show, starring Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller, set a house record at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for the most money brought in at a single performance ever at the theatre with $145,532.
The musical was completely sold out for its first four performances and brought in 111.4% of its gross potential, behind only the smash hit shows Hamilton and Wicked, according to Broadway World.
“Today was pretty epic,” Sara wrote on Twitter on Sunday evening after the first weekend of shows wrapped up and it sounds like she’s going to have an epic run with her new show!
