Harriet Tubman Will Replace Jackson on $20 Bill, Alexander Hamilton Staying on $10 Bill
Harriet Tubman will be replacing Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, and Alexander Hamilton is staying put on the $10 bill.
Lin Manuel-Miranda, creator of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, spoke with Treasury Secretary Jack Lew after he announced plans to initially replace Alexander Hamilton on the ten. Fans of Hamilton also fought to keep Hamilton on the ten dollar bill. Secretery Lew listened, and replaced Andrew Jackson with historical figure Harriet Tubman.
The ten dollar bill is expected to be redesigned to include women and civil rights leaders as well, featured on the back and Alexander Hamilton on the front, the New York Times reports. Expect to see the new designs in 2020.
I talked to @USTreasury about this on Monday. Sec. Lew told me "you're going to be very happy." #wegetthejobdone https://t.co/ZkLFuSmz8M
