Mariah Carey Will 'Never Get Over' Prince's Death (Video)

Mariah Carey is opening up about the death of her friend Prince and she says she’ll “never get over” the loss.

“I’ve loved Prince since I first heard him and then later in life I got to know him. He helped me through so many moments where I needed somebody to guide me through,” Mariah said in an interview with ET‘s Carly Steel. “[He was] just a true genius… There will never be anybody else like him.”

“There will never be anybody else like him and it’s such a loss that he’s gone now because he could have been one of those people that we see every year and we get excited because it’s Prince,” she added. “I will never get over it. I didn’t think I was going to be able to do the show tonight.”

Mariah performed a concert in Paris on Thursday night (April 21) just hours after finding out about the death. She dedicated “One Sweet Day” to him during the show and said Prince didn’t like people covering his songs.
