Melissa McCarthy Responds to 'Ghostbusters' Critics

Melissa McCarthy sports a cute pair of specs while grabbing a bite to eat at Mozza Pizzeria on Saturday (May 28) in Los Angeles.

The 45-year-old actress was joined by her husband Ben Falcone.

Meanwhile, Melissa recently responded to Ghostbusters critics and Internet haters.

“All those comments, ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really,” Melissa told The Guardian, joking, “Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood?”

She added, “I have a visual of those people not having a Ben, not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the Internet. I just hope they find a friend.”

If only we all had spouses who got paid millions of dollars to make movies nobody likes the third world would be a better place

People don’t hate it cause it’s “four women”.
People said this same exact stuff for Bay’s Transformers, the Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie, the GI Joe movie, the Point Break remake.

Maybe, just maybe, the problem is people hate remakes and cash ins on old stuff from their childhood?

I’m not denying sexism exists, but it’s not why people MOST of the people bashing this crappy looking remake are bashing it, they’re bashing it because it looks like another crappy remake/reboot.

Sorry Melissa, this is not about women or any other minorities. This is about HW not being creative enough to come up with new ideas for movies. Instead, they choose to screw up classic movies and tv shows like Ghostbusters, Dukes of Hazzards, Baywatch, The Wiz, 21 Jump Street, Jumungi, and a whole bunch of other greats. We don’t need remakes of old favorites/classics we got enough of that with continuous repeats of comic book characters. Tell HW to get off their behinds and go read some good books and create from there.

I just don’t believe that a woman as fat as Melissa McCarthy could be a Ghostbuster. Would be like her being in the army.

Yeah, there is no doubt sexism and racism are still major issues in society. But that has nothing to do with this movie. It just looks garbage and I hate the constant rebooting pattern we’ve got in films.

If they improved the script, CGI, story and made it a sequel…it might be a good movie. But unfortunately it’s a horrible looking reboot.

I just don’t feel like wasting my money seeing a bad movie…sorry.

The movie was already dumb in the 80′s. Why doing a remake? The only thing worth it was the song. The song is cool lol

I agree that having a remake of a film from your childhood doesn’t ruin your childhood, you’ve already lived it. However, I never see the point of celebrities, in particular, engaging people who make these comments. She should have just said that everyone is entitled to their opinion; don’t know why that is so hard for people to say.

LOL HW can be creative but when they are, they more than likely bomb at the box office. They rarely do well. Which is WHY they do remakes, sequels, prequels, and reboots. They know these things are a sure way to bring in money. And lets not fault HW, it’s the people too. If they supported originality, there would be more of it.

Apart from the light fantastic the two movies must have in common, possibly even Melissa’s character to ‘Ray’ (Dan Akroyd). Larger men have been looked upon as the unlikely heroes, watch Jake and the Fatman, Bluey, Fat Albert, Obleix and plenty of large actors have been in action films, take Bud Spencer, John Wayne had a dad bod at one stage, Gerard Butler, Keanu Reeves and Arnold Schwarzenegger all put on the pounds.
