Viggo Mortensen Reveals Why He Turned Down Lots of Roles After 'LOTR'
Actor Viggo Mortensen takes the cover of Esquire magazine’s June/July 2016 issue, on newsstands May 31.
Here’s what the 57-year-old Captain Fantastic actor had to share:
On why he and his partner Ariadna Gil live in Madrid: “Because I fell in love and she lived there.”
On turning down lots of roles after Lord of the Rings: “I mean, how much f*cking money do you need?”
On his obsession with death: “I think about death all the time. I mean, when I was a little kid, some of my first memories are waking up and going, ‘Ugh, I’m gonna die.’ I guess living in the countryside, I might’ve learned about it earlier. That idea of mortality, you know? Once I realized that animals are gonna die, hence I’m going to die….”
