Lin-Manuel Miranda Leaving 'Hamilton,' Sets Exit Date

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of the smash Broadway show Hamilton, will be leaving the show on July 9 to pursue other projects, THR reports.

The exit will come just a few weeks after the June 12 Tony Awards. Hamilton received a whopping 16 nominations, including three for Lin-Manuel (Best Actor in a Musical, Best Score, and Best Book).

Lin-Manuel has a ton of irons in the fire right now. First, he’s signed on to star with Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns, his other Broadway hit In the Heights is going to become a movie, and the publication also reports that he is thinking of new ideas for another musical.

Hamilton has famously hard-to-get tickets, with prices in the hundreds for a single seat.

Greed is the basis of “Hamilton” now. What started as a musical for the ages will become a musical far from the people who should see it. Art and greed. Who would have guessed?
