Gordie Howe Dead - Canadian Hockey Legend Dies At 88
Canadian hockey legend Gordie Howe has passed away at the age of 88 on Friday morning (June 9) at his home in Ohio.
Gordie‘s son Marty Howe confirmed the news to CNN Sports, but no other details surrounding his death have been released.
Gordie was inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame in 1972. Over 26 seasons in the NHL and six more in the WHA he won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings four times, won six Hart Trophies as the league’s most valuable player and six Art Ross Trophies as the leading scorer, according to ET Canada.
In 2014, Gordie suffered a significant stroke while visiting his daughter in Lubbock, Texas.
