Ireland Baldwin Says Gigi Hadid & Kendall Jenner Should Be Labeled Supermodels

Ireland Baldwin is speaking out and showing support for Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner in the midst of their supermodel controversy with Stephanie Seymour.

While making an appearance on The Talk on Monday (June 20), the 20-year-old model said that her friends Gigi and Kendall are definitely supermodels.

“It’s not really fair to compare the two different eras [of supermodels]. That was an older era of supermodels who are still now beautiful and working…it’s different,” she said.

Ireland added, “They are supermodels. There’s no denying they’re drop dead gorgeous.”

Oh please, another model whose career was bought by their celebrity family.

  • willowbee

These celebrity offsprings. Enough with them already! This trend is stupid and really boring.

looks are not what make someone a supermodel. its about who they walk for and where and when. its not about becoming famous and getting their family to buy them a career. most of these girls wouldn’t be models if it weren’t for their celebrity. they are used by the few fashion houses that use them because of their infamy, not because they’re necessarily good models. they’re models, but they’re not supermodels. most don’t have that ‘high fashion’ look. you cannot compare any of them to the likes of Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford or Elle Mcpherson

  • devvv

Being drop dead gorgeous doesn’t make you a supermodel. That’s the dumbest logic ever. Kendall and Gigi benefited from wealthy/famous families and being relevant in the age of social media. End of story.

  • girl93

Agreed, at least these supermodels had a little bit of personality.

  • Barbara A. Wilson

    White girl problems.

LMFAO…supermodels? Like I’m going to take anything Ireland Baldwin says seriously who spends most of her time high AF while on social media trolling for attention. Basically these are all self entitled little rich girls from famous families who were hand given modeling careers.

  • Cruizin1960

There are millions of beautiful women out there…thousands who model. If beauty was the sole requirement for being declared a supermodel…there would be a flood of them. A supermodel has something extra…it cannot be defined…and it most certainly cannot be bought by a famous mother or daddy. They are iconic. These girls…they are known BECAUSE of who their families are…BECAUSE of celebrity rags…not because of their modeling….but in spite of it. None of them match up to a Tyra Banks, Christie Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs, Kathy Ireland, etc. They are merely shadows of the true supermodel.

“I’m famous because of my parents, and I think other people who are famous for the same reason should be handed everything just like me”, Is that right Ireland?

  • MollyBD

Super rich and uneducated. What a combination.

  • Gina

Gigi used to latch on to Ireland back in the day when they were both starting out in the modelling world. There was a lot of buzz around Ireland at the time, but as soon as that buzz died down & her career didn’t take off like people thought it would, Gigi decided to latch on to Kendall instead. Be careful who you defend, Ireland.

  • Gina

What career? It didn’t take off like she thought it would.

  • Kyle Millert

Beauty isn’t the sole requirement of being a supermodel. Especially considering how subjective beauty is. What you love I may hate and niether of us are right, it’s just how we feel. There are girls out there literally dozens of times hotter than Kendall and Gigi combined, but we’ll never know their names or see their faces because of one thing; they have no reality TV shows. A better term for Kendall and Gigi is “celebrity models” not supermodels. Anyway, even “real” supermodels are stupid for wanting to be defined by something so frivolous and manipulative as the “I’m too sexy for my shirt” rule of life. Grow up. Beauty isn’t a career, it’s a fool’s errand.
