Gwyneth Paltrow Responds to Being 'Most Hated Celebrity': 'More Than Chris Brown?'

Gwyneth Paltrow is reacting to being named the “Most Hated Celebrity” back in 2013, and her response is making headlines!

“First of all, I was like, ‘I’m the most hated celebrity? More than, like, Chris Brown?’ What did I do?” Gwyneth asked Stephen Sackur, host of BBC News’ Hard Talk, earlier this month (via E! News).

“I see where you are coming from, but maybe you just make people feel bad sometimes,” Stephen said.

“All I can do is be my authentic self, and if you know me, then you know who I am, and that I have fun and eat and am so appreciative for my life. But I think there are things about me that make people draw conclusions,” Gwyneth added.

“My parents did well, and I was able to go to a fantastic school, and we grew up in New York City, but the minute I left my college to try to pursue acting, my father was really supportive. But he said, you know, ‘You are completely on your own.’ So, he never gave me anything. I never had any supplementation, he never helped me with my rent, I never had a trust fund. So the idea that I am spoiled or that I didn’t work for what I have is just not accurate, but I can see how somebody might have that perception.” Gwyneth continued, “People tend to think that I eat just seaweed and a bit of air. I have never had a horrible experience with French fries. French fries are my life!”

FYI: Chris Brown came in at number 20 on the list.

That whole response makes it clear why she’s most hated. Lol

Because you say things like “I would rather die than give my kid a cup-a-soup” amongst other things that make people feel like doing something that is normal makes them a terrible person and parent.

  • Carmex

Your Paltrow name really helped your career, even though you got no “help” from daddy.

  • Kyle Millert

I’ve never understood this one. Every time I’ve seen her interviewed she seemed like one of the most direct, kind, and hilarious people I’ve ever seen in Hollywood. She’s got a mouth on her but who the hell doesn’t? Like she said she can only be her “authentic self” but apparently people say they want truth then you give it to them and suddenly they have a problem. The statements like ‘I’d rather die than give my kid a cup-a-soup’ or I guess Roman noodles are pretty on point to me. The sodium levels in those things versus the nonexistent nutritional value is too high to give that junk to a developing body crying out for nutrients. Obviously she has more time and means to provide “better” quality to her kids but helping people understand nutrition earlier in life is so important. Who wants to be only 60yo yet falling apart limb from limb and making hospital visits every other week because their parents, the ones who should teach them everything, taught them nothing? I don’t think she’s great or anything but she’s definitely more open and readable than most celebs who fake it to make it and I guess that was her downfall.

I hope she doesn’t think much, if anything, about it. It says more about those that have a more favorable view of a drugged out and mental woman beater than it does about her. Badge of honor territory.

she’s so funny!!! people are fat and ugly and hate themselves sorry someone is living a carefree life!!!! why does being carefree and happy make people so uncomfortable?????

  • guesteartt

Her dad did the right thing in teaching her to be financially independent, but my gosh, having Steven Spielberg as your godfather surely didn’t harm her at all! She had all the right connections from birth.

I don’t think people dislike GP because they make them feel bad about themselves; I think it’s because she’s all “Of course you’d love to be me.”

  • guesteartt

The stuff she says has semi-annoyed me only because they’re so vapid, not because they make me feel bad about myself.

She said something about a girl coming up to her and asking about what brand of jeans she was wearing. And then she was thinking, “No, I have to go back to Europe because we actually talk about history there.” This is the perfect example of GP, the queen of smugness, putting her foot in it.

GP is an idiot and she knows EXACTLY why people are annoyed by her vapidity, and all these interviews are to push her ecommerce site more than about revelation or self-examination. Talking about people hating her gets her clicks and she knows it. Next month she’ll be talking about steaming her privates again or some other topic her PR people promise will go viral.

However, her recent comments on post-feminist imagery and raising daughters are ON POINT.

Gwyneth Paltrow is an annoying bitch but Chris Brown should definitely been higher than 20 on that list cause he continues to prove he’s an asshole.
