'Finding Dory' Wins Independence Day Weekend Box Office!

Finding Dory continued its box office reign with an additional $41.9 million gross at the holiday weekend box office!

According to THR, the Pixar and Disney sequel, starring the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O’Neill, and more, has now grossed $272.2 million in the U.S. and $538.2 million globally.

Coming in second was The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgard, which earned $38.1 million in its opening weekend.

Taking the No. 3 spot was the horror flick The Purge: Election Year, debuting to $30.9 million. It only cost $10 million to make.

Rounding out the top five were The BFG and Independence Day: Resurgence, which brought in $19.6 million and $16.5 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Blake Lively‘s new flick The Shallows continued to do well with an additional $9 million gross.

    Steven should have never made BFG. Just three years ago, Jack The Giant Slayer didn’t do well, that should have given Steven a clue (assuming BFG production was in its early stages then). BFG would still bomb even if Finding Dory wasn’t playing.
