James Franco Honored With James Schamus Ally Award At Outfest 2016!

James Franco shows off his mustache while hitting the red carpet at the screening of his latest film King Cobra held during the 2016 Outfest at Director’s Guild of America on Saturday (July 16) in West Hollywood, Calif.

The 38-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Alicia Silverstone, Keegan Allen and his model girlfriend Ali Collier, Garrett Clayton, and director-writer Justin Kelly. The film’s producers Scott Levenson and Jordan Yale Levine were also on hand to co-host the ceremony!

At the event, Gus Van Sant presented James with the James Schamus Ally Award, created to honor the efforts of an individual in bringing LGBTQ stories to the forefront.

“I am thrilled to have my name linked with such a Hollywood legend and someone who shepherded all kinds of stories,” James expressed (via Variety). “Nothing was beyond the pale for Schamus – he saw value and entertainment in it all. His work on ‘Wedding Banquet’ to ‘Brokeback Mountain’ to ‘Milk’ changed the landscape for queer cinema and I only hope to make such an impression.”
