Peter Thiel in RNC Speech: I'm Proud to Be Gay & Republican
Peter Thiel speaks on stage during his speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday (July 21) at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
The 48-year-old Silicon Valley billionaire, who co-founded Paypal and was the first investor in Facebook, opened up about being gay and a Republican in the speech.
“I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican. But most of all I am proud to be an American,” Peter said.
Peter also addressed the bathrooms laws involving transgender people in America.
“When I was a kid the great debate was about how to defeat the Soviet Union,” he said. “And we won. Now we are told that the great debate is about who gets to use which bathroom. This is a distraction from our real problems. Who cares?”
