Cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten Crashes During Olympics 2016 Race
Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten was involved in a horrible bike crash while cycling during a course during the 2016 Rio Olympics on Sunday (August 7) – and it was shown on live television.
The 33-year-old biker had only 6 miles to go in the 87-mile course, and was poised to win gold. She got caught in a slippery area on a turn, and lost control of her bike.
A European journalist tweeted, “Van Vleuten has a concussion and three cracks in her spine. She is in Intensive Care.” We will update with Annemiek‘s status as it becomes available.
