Venus & Serena Williams Lose First Round Women's Doubles at Rio Olympics 2016

Venus and Serena Williams have lost their women’s doubles match on Sunday (August 7) during the 2016 Rio Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The pair have won Gold at the doubles events for the past three Olympics they have participated in together (2000, 2008, and 2012).

Serena won earlier in the day in her singles match, but Venus was served a devastating loss the day before to Kirsten Flipkens.

Venus was also apparently ill for today’s match, as she was “dehydrated, with some cramps and upset stomach,” Fox News reports.

The pair lost to Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic, 6-2, 6-4.
