Michael Phelps On Retirement: 'This Time I Mean It'

Michael Phelps is making his retirement official!

Following his record breaking 23rd Olympic gold medal win at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, the 31-year-old swimmer sat down with Matt Lauer to set the record straight.

“Done, done, done. This time I mean it,” Michael expressed. “I wanted to come back and finish my career how I wanted. And this was the cherry on top of the cake that I wanted.”

“He might be there, but I won’t,” Michael added, referring to his teammate Ryan Lochte‘s comments on him competing in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. “I’ll be there watching, cheering everybody on. But I will not be in the pool competing.”
