Ryan Lochte Stands By Rio Robbery Story Amid Police Doubt

Ryan Lochte is standing by his story that he and three other U.S. swimmers were robbed at gunpoint in Rio over the weekend after their story has come into question by Brazilian police.

Ryan spoke with NBC’s Matt Lauer and he said the following: “I wouldn’t make up a story like this nor would the others. We’re victims in this and we’re happy that we’re safe.”

Two of the other swimmers involved , Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger, were detained at the Rio airport for questioning, and they have not been allowed to leave Brazil.

Brazil should be ashamed of itself…they detained US citizens for questioning as if they were the ones responsible for what happened to them. Brazil is known for it’s crime and has had a high crime rate for the past twenty years…even cruise ship tourists get robbed…WTF Brazil. Furthermore, the Olympic Committee should better vett the countries who want to host an international good will event, high crime, algae water, Zita, dengue, malaria…you have to be a hero to even want to go there…might as well have held the Olympics in Syria or Afganistan.
Now Brazil is harassing those who just want to go home as if Brazil is innocent…your country is getting a worse reputation by detaining these Olympic winners. By putting in jeopardy good will ambassadors from various countries who just want to compete in their specialized sport, then to be victimized and detained from going home to relish in much deserved glory is horrifying. Take care of your own business Brazil and do it internally.

The criminal is lucky he left to the U.S before Brazil could arrest him for assaulting that security guard and lying about it.

The amount of ignorance in this is depressing, but let me try to break it down for you. When a story doesn’t add up with the facts further investigation needs to be done, that would have happened in any country.

There’s footage of the athletes casually walking in the Olympic village, joking around with each other, at a different time that they told the authorities, all of them with their iPhones and watches still with them. I don’t know your experience with theft, but if it did happen they came across the kindest criminals in history.

Brazil has problems like any other country, but let’s reverse roles for a second; What if a Brazilian athlete competing in the USA had said he survived a mass shooting or had witnessed a black men being shot by a white policemen and there were no facts to back up his allegations. What do think it would have happened to him?
