Team USA's Paul Chelimo Wins Silver After Initial Disqualification in 5000m
Paul Chelimo takes home silver for Team USA during the 5000m race Saturday night (August 20) in Rio de Janiero.
After coming in second to Britain’s Mo Farrah, the Olympic runner was informed during a post-race interview on NBC that he had been disqualified for a lane infringement by apparently stepping outside of the lane.
After much debate, Paul was later reinstated when officials said that he had not broken any rules.
Mo, who had stumbled twice during the week, took him gold with his impressive time of 13:03:03. Mo is the first man in 40 years to win gold medals in the 5,000 and 10,000 races in two separate Olympics games.
Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia took home the bronze medal.
