Tom Daley Reacts After Failing to Qualify for 10M Diving Final at Rio Olympics 2016
Tom Daley took to Twitter on Saturday (August 20) to express how he felt after not qualifying for the finals for the 10m platform dive.
The 22-year-old athlete, who already scored a bronze medal at the Olympics, needed a score of 403.25 during the semi-finals to make it to the finals. He scored a 50.40, and was eliminated. In the preliminary round, he scored a 571.85.
“It’s really hard to accept. I’ve worked so hard,” Tom told the BBC. “Yesterday I scored the highest score ever in an Olympic Games. Today it wasn’t meant to be. That’s what diving does sometimes.”
“I truly am heartbroken because I feel like I am in the peak physical condition and I could have won,” Tom added.
In addition, Tom tweeted, “Truly heartbroken. but I will never give up on my dream of being an Olympic champion…Now time to head to the pool to cheer on Qui Bo to win this one! let’s go Qui Bo!”
