Colton Haynes Receives HRC's Visibility Award: I Hope I Can Inspire You to Be Yourselves
Colton Haynes was awarded with the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award over the weekend at the 17th annual gala in Seattle, Wash.
The 28-year-old actor was honored because “has inspired countless LGBTQ young people across the country and around the world to live their lives as their authentic selves,” a statement read (via THR).
Colton took to Instagram to share a photo of himself accepting the award, and it looks like it was a very emotional moment for him.
“Thk u @humanrightscampaign for the incredible honor last night. I couldn’t hold back the emotion. I dont feel especially deserving of this recognition. We all know there are many others who have come before me to blaze the trail as LGBT advocates & role models. I am
walking in their shoes and following their lead. This is for all of my incredible fans & hope I can inspire y’all to be yourselves even though I hid for so long,” Colton wrote.
