Eminem Reacts to Death of '8 Mile' Director Curtis Hanson

Curtis Hanson, the director of the movie 8 Mile, has passed away at the age of 71.

The filmmaker won an Oscar for his work directing the movie L.A. Confidential and he most recently directed the Gerard Butler surfing movie Chasing Mavericks.

8 Mile was the director’s most successful film and Eminem, the film’s star, released a statement to remember his friend.

Curtis Hanson believed in me and our crazy idea to make a rap battle movie set in Detroit. He basically made me into an actor for 8 Mile. I’m lucky I got to know him,” the rapper said (via THR).

We send our thoughts and condolences to Curtis‘ friends and family during this difficult time.
