Colton Haynes Is Unrecognizable for 'Scream Queens' Role!

Colton Haynes made his debut on Scream Queens on Tuesday night (September 27) and he was absolutely unrecognizable for his role!

The 28-year-old actor plays a guy named Tyler whose body is covered in boils and he says it took five hours in the makeup chair to achieve the look.

“Here’s a sneak peak of me on @screamqueensfox TONIGHT! 5 hrs of full body prosthetic makeup…can’t wait for y’all to meet Tyler :) 🙀🙀🙀 #screamqueens,” Colton wrote on Instagram.

I’ve never watched an episode of this show (just the clip calling him a monster) and this episode guaranteed that I won’t. Obviously the writers, producers and actors know nothing about Neurofibromatosis or NF. NF is a genetic disorder and there is no cure. Those “boils” are fibromas or tumors. Having them does not make him a monster. NF happens one in every 3000 births. This genetic disorder can be a mutation. It also effects people in many different ways. Some people can go their whole lives and never know they have it to having it so severe that they might be covered in tumors (what the writers called boils) like the character in this show. My daughter has NF1. While she does have numerous tumors on her body they are mostly on her torso, arms and legs. Hers are not like the ones portrayed on this show. She also has a small brain tumor as well as a bowed tibia (she wears a brace on her leg).
I have to say many many people who have NF are VERY upset by the portrayal of NF in the manner it was portrayed in this show. If you are going to use NF or any other disorder or sickness then you should do your homework on it and at least portray it in a manner that brings awareness and education. People who suffer from this also suffer from being bullied and made fun of, stared at, etc….you just made it worse. People with NF are just that, people. The writers and producers of this show should be ashamed of themselves for propagating such a stigma on an already painful (emotionally, physically, mentally) disorder.
