'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' Beats Out 'Deepwater Horizon' at Weekend Box Office

Tim Burton‘s new flick Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children won this weekend’s box office!

According to THR, the fantasy adventure, starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, and Ella Purnell, debuted to $28.5 million.

Coming in at No. 2 was Mark Wahlberg‘s new movie Deepwater Horizon, which also stars Kate Hudson, Dylan O’Brien, and Gina Rodriguez, and brought in $20.6 million.

Taking the third spot was Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt‘s film The Magnificent Seven, which added an additional $15.5 million for a domestic total of $61.4 million so far.

Rounding out the top five were Storks and Sully, earning $13.8 million and $8.4 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Masterminds, starring Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig, and Jason Sudekis, which took sixth place with $6 million.

Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo‘s Queen of Katwe earned $3 million as it expanded to more theaters.
