Nate Parker Won't Apologize for Being Accused of Rape

Nate Parker sits down for his interview on Good Morning America on Monday (October 3) in New York City.

The 36-year-old The Birth of a Nation actor/director/writer was asked about being accused of rape and he said he wants to move past the allegation. Nate was asked by host Robin Roberts if he would apologize.

“I’m not going to go through,” Nate said. “I said it last night: I was falsely accused, I was proven innocent, and I’m not going to apologize for that. I feel terribly about that situation, but at some point, we’ve got to ask ourselves, like, is this a film that is important to us?”

No film is important to us, whats important is our education, our jobs, our day to day lives. Not a movie about yet another slave written acted directed by a horrid human being that allowed another man to rape someone while you watched. People who are right in their minds will never support ppl like you.

I think people all know that “proven not guilty” doesn’t always mean that the person is innocent. Yes, legally he wasn’t found guilty due to technicalities, but the fact that this girl was traumatized enough to the point of suicide speaks volumes. And the fact that he and his friends harassed her AFTER the incident makes it that much more disgusting. Is the film important to us? Not important enough to ignore the fact that a young girl was abused and bullied… His arrogance is appalling; I really hope this film doesn’t get any Oscars.

  • Will

Disgusting piece of crap, this is all he has to say on the matter I don’t apologize, I haven’t thought about it in 17 years or the girl that couldn’t handle being raped and felt the only solution was not to exist. No conscience at all, ya sure your innocent.

  • SquidBillie

I saw his 60 minutes interview, and he was a pompous jerk. It was clear he was acting when he answered questions about the rape…he was EXTREMELY phony. I’ll pass on the film, which of course, he thinks is the most important film of the century.

  • PB

Besides, his co-writer/rapist was found guilty.

  • HG

TRUE!! For these two guys to think that they can just brush what happened and go on some crusading awards tour is so gross.
