Derek Hough Will Dance Viennese Waltz With Marilu Henner on DWTS Next Week

Derek Hough takes a casual walk on his way to Pressed Juicery in Los Angeles on Friday (October 7).

The 31-year-old pro dancer and actor took a little break from Dancing With The Stars practice with partner Marilu Henner for next week’s show. They’ll be dancing a Viennese Waltz to “Surprise Yourself” by Jack Garratt for Most Memorable Year Week.

“I’m going to take a different approach this week with Marilu. I want to have the movement come from her and have it be authentic and organic from her body. I’ll just be there to guide it,” Derek wrote in his TVGuide blog.

He continued, “I want her to feel nonrestrictive and to feel like she can dance. We had two intense dances back-to-back, the tango and the paso, and I think the intensity was misinterpreted as stiffness in her mind. So with the Viennese waltz, we’re going to crank up the fluidity and the softness.”
