BET Responds to Gabrielle Union's 'Being Mary Jane' Lawsuit

The BET network has responded to Gabrielle Union‘s lawsuit after being accused of trying to pay her less money by taping two seasons of Being Mary Jane back-to-back.

“While we hold Gabrielle Union in the highest esteem, we feel strongly that we are contractually well within our rights and are committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution in this matter,” the network said in a statement to Just Jared. Gabrielle is due a raise with every new season that is filmed, but she and her lawyers say the network is trying not to give the raise by shooting the two seasons back-to-back.

Gabrielle is currently seeking $1 million in damages and wants her contract wording changed to make clear that each season is 13 episodes.
