Lorde Donates $10,000 to Help Struggling Family Make Ends Meet
Lorde listens to some tunes on her iPhone as she steps out for a stroll on a windy Thursday (October 13) in New York City.
Lorde recently made a donation of $10,000 to a family in New Zealand who has been struggling to survive.
Devora Busch, a mother of three kids, and her partner Richard Barry (who is unable to work due to hearing loss and other problems) found out their home was leaking, so they had to start paying rent somewhere else while repairs took place.
Meanwhile, the couple also has to pay for their daughter Rheegan‘s around-the-clock care, as she is severely autistic and suffers from a life-threatening eating disorder called pica (an uncontrollable urge to eat non-food items).
When a relative started a Givealittle page to raise funds for the family, Lorde happily stepped up to help. “Sending best wishes and love to you and your parents, Rhee. Xxxx,” she wrote.
“What an amazing young woman she is,” Devora told Woman’s Day. “There’s no personal connection so I’m very humbled that she would think of us.”
