The episode started with Cheyenne Jackson playing the producer of “My Roanoke Nightmare.” It was revealed that the series was a huge cultural phenomenon and he was pitching his sequel idea to the network. He decided to put the real-life people from the story (played by Lily Rabe, Andre Holland, and Adina Porter) into the original Roanoke house with the actors (played by Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Angela Bassett, and Evan Peters) and film it 24/7, Big Brother style.

We were introduced to the actors who played the roles on the fake series and what they are like in real life. Sarah and Evan‘s characters fell in love while filming the series and got married. Cuba‘s character had a brief fling with the real-life version of his on-screen wife, played by Lily. The real-life Shelby and Matt Miller (Rabe and Holland) ended up splitting after the fling and she agrees to do the reality series to reunite with him. The real Lee Harris (Porter) has been accused of the murder of her husband and the actress (Bassett) has become an alcoholic after playing the role.

Kathy Bates‘ character Agnes (who played The Butcher on the series) is revealed to be schizophrenic and there are times when she acts like she’s really The Butcher in real life. After production on the reality series finds dead pigs on set days before filming, they blame her and get a restraining order against her.

After the pig incident, a couple more unexplained and gruesome moments happen on set. A crew member cuts his head off with a chainsaw and a producer on the series disappears after being attacked in her car by a pig-head man.

The actors and the real-life people assemble into the house and start filming and then it is revealed that, “Over the next three days during the blood moon, every participant in this series died under mysterious circumstances. Except for one. The show planned by producers never aired. This is the assembled found footage.”

The next act of the episode showed footage from inside the house. Evan Peters‘ character ends up being killed in the house by ghosts.
