Anne Hathaway Wasn't Happy When She Won Oscar: 'I Got Called Out On It Big Time'

Anne Hathaway is opening up about a hard time in her life, when she won the Oscar for Les Miserables.

“I felt very uncomfortable,” the 33-year-old actress told The Guardian. “I kind of lost my mind doing that movie and it hadn’t come back yet. Then I had to stand up in front of people and feel something I don’t feel which is uncomplicated happiness. It’s an obvious thing, you win an Oscar and you’re supposed to be happy. I didn’t feel that way. I felt wrong that I was standing there in a gown that cost more than some people are going to see in their lifetime, and winning an award for portraying pain that still felt very much a part of our collective experience as human beings. I tried to pretend that I was happy and I got called out on it, big time. That’s the truth and that’s what happened. It sucks. But what you learn from it is that you only feel like you can die from embarrassment, you don’t actually die.”

Anne won the Oscar back in 2013 for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables.

At least you actually deserved that Oscar unlike some other Oscar whiners.

Girl, take the award and move on. Does she know what’s happening in the world right now? There’s so much to be unhappy about. Why keep talking about something as trivial as this for years after the fact?

God, she’s a pretentious asshole. A real emotional hack/drama queen. Just STFU and be honored for the award that, FRANKLY, you KNEW you were going to win.

RIGHT???? And she’s claiming to feel guilty about a DRESS. Girl, sit. the. fuck. down.

Actors are complicated creatures, aren’t they? *eye roll*

Let’s called it for what it is, Jennifer Lawrence stole the spotlight that year. The media was in love with Jlaw and Hathaway fell into obscurity, her speeches didn’t help her either.

STFU, Anne. No one cares, and no one wants to hear your pretentious crap.

If you’ve seen Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone, you’ll know that she actually can act.

  • Just Saying

Winter’s Bone was a good movie, she was sublime. But her other roles have been the same: loud, obnoxious and over the top. She should learn to play her parts differently than she is in real life.

  • Amber

Touché. Remember all the hype surrounding Silver Linings Playbook? I hated that movie. All everyone did was yell at each other the entire film!

  • Just Saying

Also in Joy, she was neurotic all the time, then American Hustle, the scream contest between her and Adams, and the Xmen movies where she tries to be more “sublime” but comes off just as boring JLaw. She is a good actress, but doesn’t have range a la Meryl Street… Still I get the oscar win and nominations, is all about the ratings. The oscars are nothing but a popularity contest.

  • Amber

I agree. I think she’s a good actress, but nothing amazing. I also think she’s miscast in a lot of her roles. People are casting her now because of her name, not because she’s a good fit for the role.

  • DEADP00L

Wow she’s still on about this? Talk about self obsessed and shallow. Of all the things going on in this world she’s all about ‘ me me me me’.
