Twitter & Netflix Down, Other Sites Experiences Outages After DDoS Attack

You may have noticed that Twitter, Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, Reddit, and many more sites have not been loading this morning.

It turns out, there was a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) on Internet performance company Dyn on Friday (October 21), largely effecting service on the east coast.

Dyn reported that sites started going down at 7:10 am EST, and they “began monitoring and mitigating a DDoS attack against our Dyn Managed DNS infrastructure.”

“This attack is mainly impacting US East and is impacting Managed DNS customers in this region. Our Engineers are continuing to work on mitigating this issue,” the site posted in another update.

Service has been largely restored, though many are still having Twitter problems. Stay tuned.
