'Boo! A Madea Halloween' Beats 'Inferno' at Halloween Box Office
Boo! A Madea Halloween has taken the top spot at the Halloween weekend box office this weekend, earning $16.7 million in its second weekend in theaters.
A big upset was the number two movie, Tom Hanks‘ Inferno, which earned $15 million it its opening weekend debut.
“We’re disappointed in the U.S. opening, but we’re very pleased with how the film is performing internationally,” a spokesperson for Sony told THR. Inferno has made $132.9 million overseas.
Tom Cruise‘s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back earned $9.5 million, taking third place at the box office this weekend.
Rounding out the top five were The Accountant and Ouija: Origin of Evil, which earned $8.4 and $7 million respectively.
Meanwhile, Doctor Strange is headed for a huge start, as it earned $86 million overseas before its November 4 US opening.
