British Singer Tom Odell Thinks America's Political Climate is 'Pretty Terrifying'
Here is what the 25-year-old singer had to share with the mag:
On the American political climate: “I think it’s pretty terrifying. It’s an incredibly important election and I do hope people really think twice before voting for Mr. Trump. I mean, I don’t live here and I can’t vote, so I’m not really sure what my opinion is worth, but what I would say is I feel like the world is moving on from racism, from misogyny, from sexism, and nothing the man has said particularly affirmed my belief he will continue the progress that is being made.”
On the message he wants fans to get from his songs: “I never really think about any profound message I want people to take from my music. Songwriting is far more basic I think. It’s best done when not thought about too much, you shut your eyes and play and sing and something comes from somewhere within you. Having said that, I think the primary thing I take from my favorite artists is a relief from loneliness. That lyric you hear sometimes that you’ve been thinking your whole life, but never been able to say. That’s great songwriting. And it’s f–king difficult.”
