Jennifer Lawrence called some lucky fans on FaceTime on Election Day to encourage them to vote and it was all thanks to her new boyfriend Darren Aronofsky!

The 47-year-old Oscar-nominated director went to Duke University on Tuesday afternoon (November 8) to encourage fans to vote and promised them calls with his girlfriend if they agreed to vote.

“I just casually FaceTimed with Jennifer Lawrence. Darren Aronofsky is the man πŸ‘ŒπŸ»,” Twitter user Ethan Udell captioned the below photo.

Another Twitter user tweeted, “When Jennifer Lawrence’s boyfriend is on campus bribing students to go vote in exchange for a FaceTime with her πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ #ElectionDay.”

    love yourself jen

  • Ause Ekel

    Yikes Jen.

  • Blair W

This takes pimping out a relationship to a new level.

  • Mark

I thought he was like totally low key and wasn’t going to use her for her fame? Right? RIGHT? Seriously, love yourself Jen and dump this old dude with an obsession with thin scarves.

  • Tia Ward

Do PR people not understand that the more we see a celebrity relationship the less we believe it. Like how many articles do i have to see of these people

  • Ause Ekel

Don’t be surprised if they walk the red carpet of Passengers next month.

  • Blair W

I have to say, according to another poster from Duke ( where DA was) this call was apparently planned, so it’s not like he just randomly called her in front of everyone. And apparently it was casual, like 2 friends facetiming, no lovey-dovey BS
But still, they’re definitely not sticking to the “low key” relationship they claim to want.

  • Blair W

Do you think they’d do that if they are legit together? Cuz either way that seems waaayyy too obvious and sudden for them. If anything, he might be there in the background (but still be visible enough to spark rumors).

  • HG

At first I thought this was a legit relationship…. But this is very odd behavior for Jennifer. She was super private when it came to her relationships with Nic and Chris (this could be because the two guys were super private too), and now she’s using her boyfriend to Facetime fans??? Okay…..

  • Ause Ekel

They’re doing all this too fast tbh, which makes me doubt how real they are. But who knows, she might be trying to bring attention to Passengers and next year he’ll need this on set relationship to sell his movie with her. Waiting for the next chapter.

  • Blair W

…and he needs to get more buzz for Jackie.
You really think this will continue on until next December? I mean, yes it would bring some publicity to the movie, but that means more pap strolls for another year and, honestly, by the time their movie premieres, no one will really care about them. It’ll just be more Fassbender/Vikander-esque awkwardness.

  • deputy barney

Just when this happens, a brand-new clip for Passengers premieres, along with a new clip of Pratt and Lawrence on Ellen. This showmance is working like clockwork, isn’t it?

  • deputy barney

If they’re smart, they’ll end this showmance after awards season is over. Lawrence has to get to work on Red Sparrow soon, since that is slated for release around this time next year.

Speaking of Red Sparrow, that movie is being distributed by 20th Century Fox, the same company distributing Jackie, and distributed the Lawrence-starring Joy last year. Maybe Fox might be in on this showmance as well? Help Red Sparrow get a better result with audiences and critics than Joy did?

Except that Lawrence and Aronofski are much more famous and popular than the showmance between Fassbender and Vikander. I think they’ll be relevant next year, especially if Passengers and Jackie succeed.

  • deputy barney

And now an announcement of Lawrence and Pratt being on the Graham Norton Show in early December. This is just getting better and better.

  • Gina

Ok, the scarf part was funny.

I don’t have cable, but a friend of mine who watched the Ellen interview said that Aronofsky wasn’t mentioned. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t one of the signs of a showmance that questions are not directly asked on interviews on talk shows unless a prior approval from PR is given, and the focus is just on the project at hand, whilst PR lets tabs do the work for them? Just saying.

If that’s the case, there is a chance that we could have a second going of this around this time next year. Think about it, “lovey-dovey” Darren and Jen could not make it work with hectic schedules, so they “break up” shortly after this awards season is over. She goes to work on Red Sparrow. Then, near the time it comes to promote Mother, Darren and Jen realize how much they “missed each other” and decide to give it a second shot. This does wonders for Mother promotion, and after the Academy Awards in 2018, they “break-up again for good.”

  • Ause Ekel

I don’t think they’ll split. They’ll make a few staged PDAs and other kinds of publicity later this year and during next year, promote their film together and then God knows what will happen. If they are PR, they’ll split in 2018. If they are real, they might stick together.

  • Blair W

I know staying together may be a smarter thing to do PR-wise for their movie, but a year is a long time.
Lets say they are a fake couple, what if they meet someone they really like and want to go public with them? DA isnt exactly a young man, he may not wanna wait a long time to openly date someone. What if they realize people arent interested in them as a couple anymore (which is possible since DA isnt that famous)? Or, what if this showmance doesn’t help their upcoming movies perform well, and makes them lose fans (which is kinda starting to happen already).
And if they are legit, its likely they’ll just get bored w/ each other b/c of the age difference & diff. schedules before next Xmas.

However, hasnt JL said previously that they’ve been friends for a while (which would explain the awkward kiss)? Real or not–it’s totally possible they could break up after their movies come out & then promote ‘Mother’ together without any awkwardness.

  • Ause Ekel

Bradley Cooper has contracts that last 2 years. Time isn’t an issue if they are PR. I don’t know what to think really, time will tell what’s going on. They could be fake or be real and use their romance for publicity. They both have big films coming out soon anyway, it makes sense.

  • deputy barney

Passengers gets EVEN MORE coverage. Jeez, the Aronofsky/Lawrence showmance has really opened the floodgates for it.

After all, Sony really did need it. For a movie that was on the turnaround blacklist for years, in and out of production, considered to be one of the best scripts to never be produced for a long time, getting Jennifer Lawrence AND Chris Pratt in the film (seeing that both are in demand via X-Men and Hunger Games and Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, respectively), apart from a shitty time with the special effects company working on it, Sony had NO excuse to not be promoting the hell out of this.

  • deputy barney

Plus, a filming schedule for Red Sparrow was recently announced as well. Fox is producing that, same as Jackie. Plays into my 20th Century Fox theory as well.

  • Blair W

The latter definitely does make sense, but those stiff, weird DM pics make me wonder otherwise.

  • Ause Ekel

    I’m lost. What? Sorry.

  • Blair W

I meant that your 2nd point about them possibly being a real couple & just using their relationship to drum up publicity makes sense, except those stiff DM kissing pics tell a different story to me (they seem more like friends than lovers). Sorry, shoulda explained that better

  • Ause Ekel

Those photos were very weird, I know! Haha time will tell.

Lawrence is going to be on the Christmas 2016 cover for Vanity Fair. There will probably be some mention of Aronofsky in some way, shape or form. The same thing happened with Chris Martin back in 2014, it looks like the Aronofsky/Lawrence showmance will do the same thing, just for different reasons.

  • Blair W

You’re probably right.Since these interviews take place a few months before the issue comes out, it’s likely JLaw did the interview on the set of Mother, if not just after it wrapped.
It’s really just a matter of how he/ the relationship is mentioned. Even if JL doesnt mention their relationship, the interviewer will probably add a blurb about it anyway, no?

  • deputy barney

Saw the Gossip Cop article debunking the story about her getting married to Aronofsky and having his baby. AS IF. She has to get ready for Red Sparrow production, so she can’t afford to get pregnant right now, and also, not only that, Jackie is getting released on December 2nd, which Aronofsky has a Producer’s credit on. Aronofsky and Lawrence will more than likely attend promotion for that together, as well as Passengers, to generate Award’s season buzz about both films.

  • lauren

are you jens number one fan or something? because your literally in every jen post.

  • deputy barney

And now, her “dating” Darren was mentioned in her Vanity Fair interview, albeit not directly by Lawrence, but by the text of the interview. Did the same thing for Chris Martin back in 2014. Just saying.

  • deputy barney

Just when I say this, even more clips for Passengers get dropped. Again, clockwork.
