Celebrities React to Devastating New Zealand Earthquake - Read the Tweets
Celebrities have been taking to Twitter this morning to send thoughts and prayers to New Zealand after the devastating earthquake that happened early Sunday (November 13).
The magnitude-7.8 hit outside of Christchurch, where residents have been evacuating. Two hours later, a tsunami hit measuring 8ft 2ins, the BBC reports. More tsunami waves are expected.
“The first tsunami waves have arrived but it is too early to know what damage or casualties there may have been. Further waves should be expected and may be larger or more dangerous,” the Civil Defense Ministry said in a statement (via CNN). “New Zealanders should stay off the beaches, stay out of the water, and not go sightseeing.”
Stay safe New Zealand. We're all pulling for you right now x
