Finding Dory
It almost sounds like a broken record with Pixar, but yes, they did it again. They made yet another great movie. This time around, it’s the sequel/short prequel to 2003′s Finding Nemo.

In this completely delightful film, we find the typically forgetful Dory suddenly remembering her past, specifically her own parents. Through some guiding flashbacks she befriends a grumpy 7-tentacled Octopus (Septopus?), a beluga whale, and a near-sighted whale shark in pursuit to find her parents once again.

Granted, Dory’s story is the main offering, but it’s worth highlighting one of the cutest featurettes ever created, which is “Piper”. This is the Pixar short that’s typically included before every movie, which this time around, shows a small Piper bird learning to fetch his own food for the first time. This short will make you wish there was a full-feature version of this short.

As usual, Finding Dory looks emmaculate in 1080p and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1, formats that Disney always excels at. Also the film itself adds so many vibrant scenes and visual eye-candy, each shot looks great. Other features include a five-part behind the scenes featurette, a great closer look at how Hank the Octopus almost broke Pixar, and other clips speaking about voice overs and some cool ambient ‘fish tanks’ you can play on your tv background.

In the end, it’s clear that Finding Dory is a sequel that is only slightly outshined by its original. Nevertheless, the video quality and sound quality are top notch, juxtaposed with the superb animation, this film shouldn’t be missed.

Star Wars Force Awakens 3D
You may be rolling your eyes at why a second release is necessary just for 3D, however, for any Star Wars fan out there, there’s enough extra material on this release of Star Wars: Force Awakens 3D that makes this release pretty compelling.

First off, the 3D looks spectacular. Disney doesn’t disappoint with their superb video and audio quality once again. From the classic yellow scroll to the ships popping off the screen, the 3D offering is incredibly enjoyable to watch.

Now for the new stuff. This edition includes an audio commentary track from director JJ Abrams himself which is chockful of factoids and some interesting inferred insights. From confirming that Rey and Kylo met for the first time in this film to discussing backstory to a few elements of the storyline, the commentary is intriguing to say the least. It seems JJ Abrams was a bit reserved in sharing too much, however, it feels this feature alone makes this release the most compelling reason to pick up this release.

Other featurettes include new deleted scenes (still no Constable Zuvio though!), all the same featurettes from the previous release, in addition to new featurettes about the sounds from the film.

This seems like the version of Force Awakens that feels the most complete so far. Just for the commentary track alone, this release is highly recommended and a definite pick up for anyone that hasn’t gotten a copy the first time.

The Jungle Book 3D
It was only a few short months since The Jungle Book arrived on Blu-Ray and Digital and today we’re treated with what’s to be now the new normal of releasing 3D films at a later date.

The Jungle Book 3D hits shelves today and in usual Disney fashion, the 3D in this film looks amazing. Jon Favreau‘s real-life version of the animated classic looks crisp and really seems to be meant to be viewed in 3D. Various scenes, from the jungle vines to the rocky terrain all seem to pop in this rendition.

The new film is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack and includes a few new featurettes including behind-the-scenes recording of the song “Bare Necessities” with famed New Orleans musicians and the venerable Bill Murray along with a featurette on the special effects used for the film.

Highly recommend picking this film up if you haven’t picked it up the first time. While the 3D looks great, the extra features are a bit lacking to fully justify rebuying this release. Nevertheless, if you heavily prefer the 3D treatment, this version will not disappoint.

Game of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season
With the last 2 seasons upon us, season 6 has really started to bring together all the different storylines into a single narrative.

Season 6 really shaped up to be an epic season with two of the most arguable best episodes for GoT (The Battle of the Bastards and The Winds of Winter). This is the same season that gave us the infuriatingly evil perfomance of Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Bolton and the epic rise and revenge of Cersei Lannister.

The release includes a few notable extras including an in-depth look at the epic scene from The Battle of the Bastards, Deleted Scenes, and a great featurette on the Histories and Lore of Game of Thrones told through a series of 18 shorts.

Overall season 6 was amazing and surprisingly does a pretty good job standing alone even if this is the only season you pick up. HBO has really out did themselves with this season, and ending with the 2 of the greatest TV episodes of all time leaves in high anticipation of whats to come.
