VIDEO: 'Beauty & the Beast' May Have a Secret Meaning!
You might think you know the plot of classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast but there’s a hilarious new theory about the film’s true meaning.
In a parody video from The Onion, film critic Peter K. Rosenthal explains that the film is actually a statement on gay culture of the early 90s.
He goes on to say that the Beast represents more masculine and rugged gay men, known as “bears,” while Belle represents the typical gay man of the time.
Peter discusses how the pair go on a journey of self-acceptance and understanding, all while making some pretty funny quips about the film.
